Text File Support:  Adding Information to Images  -  Templates

Templates

If you need to enter similar text for a number of images, you can create a template. You can have standard information in the template itself, or you might just have headings to remind you what information you need to record for your images.

To use templates

Use the text editor of your choice (eg. Notepad) to create the template and save it.

With the cursor in the text box, select Edit->Insert Template... from the menu or just press Control-I. A dialog opens to allow you to chose the template. The last template you used should already be selected. Click OK and the template will be copied to the text box. If there is already text in the text box, the template is inserted ahead of the existing text.

Examples

A real estate agent has pictures of houses they are selling. The template they use might look something like this:

Address:
Room:
Picture Facing (North/South/East/West):
Comments:

A researcher in a laboratory saving images from experiments might use a template such as:

Experiment Name:
Experiment Date:
Subject:
Performed by:
Results:
Notes:

You can put whatever text you like into templates, so they can be completely customized to your needs.
